Research on the healthcare against climate change has not a long tradition. The health effects of such disruptive changes include increased respiratory and cardiovascular disease, injuries and premature deaths from extreme weather events, changes in the prevalence and geographic distribution of food- and water-borne illnesses and other infectious diseases, and threats to mental health.
In this report, approximately 2,000 patent applications filed worldwide between 2011 and 2021 in the field of human health protection against climate change were examined.
